spew - what is it?

This is where I go to get things off my chest every now and then. For those of you familiar with my old rantings, this is basically the same thing, 'cept maybe a tad more risqué since I won't mince on cussing. ;-p But don't worry, I won't spit out shit for no reason. For those of you who've never been to my pages before, this section is here for me to make comments (mostly educated, sometimes not) about things that I've observed in my life and also just to keep my friends up to date with what I've been doing. Keep in mind that anything you read on here is pure opinion which might not jive with your own view of the world. If that's the case, friendly messages espousing your own views are welcome but flames will be cruelly mocked. So, without further ado.... > Current Spew

May 7, 2002 - Rummaging around...

Holy smokes, an intelligent Islamic leader! Who would've thunk? =p This is the first time that I've heard an Islamic leader say that the way to succeed is through science and business and not by reverting back to outdated "beliefs." Although I guess it's not too surprising since Malaysia's one of the more well-off Islamic countries in the world. Hats off to him for saying what should be said even though he'll probably get his ass kicked for it. Religious fundamentalists are such a pain.

Yay! BMW is bringing the Mini Cooper to the US! Although I'm not exactly sure how popular it'd be since it's so small but I've loved this car since I first saw it in City Hunter. =) And forget about highway driving. This thing's just a small step up from the electric half-a-car (by Mercedes Benz no less) that they sell in Taiwan. Probably completely impractical for me to buy but hey, a guy can still dream right? ;-p

Apr. 29, 2002 - Do you believe...

Can horoscopes be sarcastic? This is what my Yahoo Techscope read for today:

If you can spend a perfectly useless afternoon in a perfectly useless manner, you have learned how to live. And, Sag, you've definitely excelled at nothingness. It's amazing how many hours have been sucked away in virtual violence via Unreal Tournament. Isn't it fun being you?

I'm having a hard time figuring out if I should take it at face value or look for a deeper meaning. Then again, I'm analyzing a freakin' horoscope fer cryin' out loud.

My thoughts exactly.

Apparently, Apple is the computer platform of the devil. Says so right here. (Hmm, looks like their server is getting swamped with hits. If you can read PDFs, then go here to take a look. Trust me, it's worth a read.) Along with a whole bunch of other right-wing Christian drivel. The entire article would've been hilarious if the author wasn't actually serious. Then again, he may have a point considering that I'm an Apple user and y'all know what my stance on religion is. ;-p Anyways, I think those guys _really_ need to lay off the sauce a little.

Update to the above. Looks like it might be a hoax after all. If that's true, it was pretty well done and an amusing read. ;-)

Yeehaw, Bill Gates actually testified today!

"The (states' ideas) would undermine all three elements of Microsoft's success, causing great damage to Microsoft, other companies that build upon Microsoft's products, and the businesses and consumers that use PC software."
Hmmm... what "three elements" is he talking about here? Could it be FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)? Nah, of course not, it's Microsoft we're talking about here. Certainly there can't be anything evil about Microsoft right? Oh wait, I guess I spoke too soon.

Hmm... so now that Apple and Microsoft are both tools of Satan, what OS can we use? Apparently not Unix/Linux/BSD either (it's that whole chmod 666 thing again). Oh well, I guess we'll have to go back to using a typewriter. Or not. Is there just no end to this madness?
