Grrr, I accidentally deleted the first (and only) two trackbacks I've ever had on this site. =(
Anyhoo, having fun reading these editorials written by a JET Program participant. Some very funny stories.
Next, these have got to be some of the most creative wedding invitations I've ever seen.
And lastly, today's entry at angry asian man brings to attention a new trend (?) amongst Asian women (in Cali at least) in regards to their never-ending battle against that burning disc in the sky. I'd like to take a look at those visor/mask things these guys are talking about cause it sounds hilarious. However, I think the women they're talking about are possibly FOB Asian-Asian women as opposed to Asian-American women cause the majority of Asian-American women that I know aren't as massively paranoid about Ra as the women in Asia. I remember the first time Erin asked me where she could get whitening cream at the mall. Apparently it took me 25 years to realize that apparently there was some sort of lotion (no, not makeup) that people could apply to their skin in an attempt to make them more white. I'd wager that the only other guy in the United States who knew of such a thing was Michael Jackson. ;-p

Actually, Shiseido sells this stuff called "UVWhite" that is supposed to actually brighten your skin. My mom bought the stuff for me and I have to say that I think it actually works. It's way pricey though since it's Shiseido but I do like the products. (Not so sure I'll continue with it or not....)
It definitely is an FOB thing. Trust me, I could care less whether or not I'm white as the underbelly of a fish. Personally, I prefer a bit of a tan myself. Looks more natural. However, pale skin is the ideal.

Yeah Shiseido is probably the only cosmetics company that sells that kind of stuff here and that's only cause they're Japanese. And that stuff ain't cheap. But in Asia, other brands like Estee Lauder and all that have whitening stuff as well. Won't find them here though.
I'm not that particular about skin color. If you get tan, you get tan. Although being TOO tan IMO doesn't look too good.

Does that stuff really work -- I mean aesthetically? It's all subjective anyway, but I'd think it'd be only marginally better/worse/same for most skin tones.
Everytime in real life that I found it strikingly attractive, it was always natural.
About the too-tan thing, there was a trend about 5 or 6 years back in Japan of girls taking excessive tanning pills combined the pale lipstick and eyeshadow -- ganguro gals. I think the fad's faded, but just won't completely go away.
