the Pursuit of the Most Expensive Piece of Paper
"Alphonse"
When I'm not glued to the keyboard, my fingers undergo extensive carpel tunnel
syndrome rehabilitation by playing a lot of collectible card games. For those
of you who've recently emerged from hibernation, collectible card games is a
new fad that literally smashed into the old gaming scene a few years ago. It
is, simply put, evil incarnate. Why? Cause this type of game drains you of
all your monetary wealth (kinda like a girlfriend now that I think about it.
But with better side effects. ^o^) and makes you think of everything in terms
of how many packs of cards you're giving up to go out to eat, or see a movie,
or go on a date, or buy new underwear.... HOWEVER, it need NOT be expensive.
I'm just a sucker for these kinda things. But it's a whole lotta fun and if
anyone in the Honolulu area is ever in the mood for a game or two, just let me
know.
Now here are the particular games that I play or have cards for:
Magic
the Gathering. The first and most widely known collectible card game.
This is the granddaddy of 'em all and still a damn fine game.
Battletech.
That's right, first the board game, then the role-playing game, then the
virtual arcade game, then the computer game, and NOW, the collectible card
game. It's fun, it's cool, it's a WotC product. ;-p
Legend of the Five Rings.
This is a really cool game based in a very Japanese-style samurai world.
Rival clans named after various animals fight for the Emerald Throne and
against evil creatures re-emerging from the Shadowlands. I had cards for
this a long time ago but then I sold them off because at that time, no one
else played. Now, my friends have got into it so I have to go buy cards
again. Sheesh, what a pain. =)
DoomTrooper. One of
the few card games with a futuristic setting. This game pits a group of five
Corporations and the religious Brotherhood against the evil forces of the Dark
Legion. This is a good game with a great background and storyline.
Too bad no one here plays. =(
