Replacements...
Late last week I started losing flamingo gouramis. They would just start losing their equilibrium or just look really tired (lying on the ground on their sides) and then die within a day. 3 of the 4 flamingos I had lost to this. So on Friday I went to AF for replacements. Mentioned the peculiar deaths to Tom and since he still remembered me getting them about a week ago, he was nice enough to provide me with new replacements. So far they seem to be doing fine.
Also picked up 4 bee shrimp. Never seen these types before in the area and they were relatively cheap. Has nice thick black and thin white banding. Was interesting to watch the sparkling gouramis examine them to see if they were food or not. I watched the biggest one chase one of the smaller shrimp for a short distance before I intervened by tapping the glass near him. Later on I watched him swim up really close to one and just stare at it for quite a while before turning away. As far as I know all 4 bee shrimp are still accounted for.
Lost a pygmy habrosus though. Not sure why, just found it upside down Saturday morning.
Gotta clean up this tank sometime though. Stringy algae has a firm grip on the plants in there so I'm either going to have to replace them all or find a way to clean them up. Pain in the butt. =(
